Internship at the Museum of the American Piano
We are looking for students interested in Arts Management.
Graduate students are welcome to apply.
Taking this internship program with the Museum will provide the person
with real time experience to set up, build, organize and run a self- sustained
concept from the beginning. The Intern will have the necessary equipment to
implement the plan: computer, fast Internet access and personnel support. One
will have the opportunity to learn principles and apply them from the start in
a real life situation.
*The Project: Writing grant proposals:
§
Identify projects at
the Museum for which grants may be available.
§
Search for foundations
that have funds available for similar activities.
§
Make contact with them
to evaluate the feasibility of writing a proposal.
§
Write the proposal.
§
Comply with
grant-writing etiquette.
§
Present the package to
the Executive Director and submit to the foundation.
§
If rejected, evaluate and
draw conclusions.
*Working hours: 4 hours/ day, 3 –5 days a week. Flexible time.
*Compensation: the Museum offers to pay for local transportation and a
modest stipend. Successfully running a project can lead to employment at the
Museum.
*Location of the Museum: corner of Broadway and Reade Street (1 block north
of Chambers street). The following subway stations are within a short walk:
City Hall: N and R
Chambers Street: 1, 2, 3, 9, A, C and E
Brooklyn Bridge: J, M, Z, 4, 5 and 6
